Meet Mia

August 3, 2012

Mia is a monster.  But don't worry, she's actually a fairy monster- which means she's nice.    The fur she's made of has been sitting in my craft closet for years, whispering into my ears every time I walked by- 'Please!!! Make me into a puppet!'.  I mean, what else could aqua blue 2 inch curly fur possibly be made into?  I really had no choice.  And once she was made I really had no option but to ... View Post

Watercolor Ground

August 2, 2012

I just remembered a great bit of info I learned in my watercolor class!  I can't believe I haven't put this up yet! So, for those of you who aren't as familiar with watercolor, one of the very first things you learn is that there is no eraser.  Unlike opaque paints like oil or acrylic, watercolor is too transparent to paint over your mistakes.  You're stuck with all your mistakes. Easy Mitered Corner Blanket

July 24, 2012

Last summer I learned a super fast way to a blanket with mitered corners.  At first I was so confused, but as soon as I tried my first one I was in love with the process.  I find myself applying it to so many things- it's so easy to use on any sized project.  I just finished this blanket to add a little blue to my living room and I took some pictures of my process so you could see what to do- ... Watercolor Week 7

June 22, 2012

This was the last week of our painting class-  I can't believe how fast the Summer Blocks goes! This week we had a guest instructor teach us about pen and ink drawing.  I loved it.  For this drawing, I drew in the house with pencil and when I got all the lines right I went in with a Micron pen .  When the ink dried, I erased all my pencil and dropped in a single wash of paint. ... Watercolor Week 6

June 21, 2012

This week was so great!  First of all, we were done with rhythm painting and I could stop being completely embarrassed during class every day! We started the week with a trip up to the Thanksgiving Point Gardens where we spent the whole day taking photos to paint from.  I got so many beautiful floral pictures for this project and so many that I want to paint on my own as well. We spent the week ... View Post
